Opportunities to help Your Club - 2nd request - tradies/DIY - please note additional last item.

5 Mar 2023 by Football Operations

Good morning members, and what a beautiful morning it is.

With zero response to my call out on the 5th, we are calling again for casual or weekly volunteers (details below). If you feel that you have received the benefit of your club (coaches, managers, board, committee, uniform, property – just to name a few), please dig deep and consider if you can give a few hours back. We all lead busy lives, but a few hours from many lightens the load. Please contact Louise this weekend.

Have a great weekend. Thanks Sally.

As we look forward to another wonderful footy season, St Ives Junior AFL Club is calling out to our fabulous footy community for volunteers. Your club is run entirely through the generosity of a small group of dedicated supporters.

However as the saying goes, many hands make light work! We would love to hear from you if you can give a little of your time to help make this our most successful year yet. Your help could be as little as flipping a sausage on the BBQ through to taking on a rewarding committee role. Highlighted below are key roles we need to fill to ensure a smooth start to the season.

Whilst we know our parents and community of supporters is a busy one, if you can spare even an hour here and there we would love to hear from you. Drop me a note on volunteer@stivesafl.com if you think you can assist.

Opportunities to help Your Club:

CASUAL VOLUNTEERS – roles which will come up at certain times of the year, such as family fun day, presentation days, trophy coordination, uniform support and social events. Please contact Louise to put your name forward for this season.

Committee Roles:

CANTEEN COORDINATOR – The canteen is a popular service to players, supporters and the broader AFL community. The lure of a hot sausage sandwich on a cold winters day is a footy favourite for young and old. The club canteen and BBQ is a long standing tradition of grass roots community sport and ours is no different. The value this service adds to our club culture cannot be understated! We are seeking a volunteer canteen coordinator from our parent base to co-ordinate the operation of the canteen during the AFL season. The canteen is open on Sundays and some Friday evenings. The role could easily be shared between two people and should take no more than 2 hours a week.

FIRST AID OFFICER (description to be updated soon).

SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR – A great opportunity for someone who knows their way around social media. Perfect for someone who has a spare hour during the week but perhaps can’t commit to activities at the club.

Trades people or handy with DIY:
Our club has a special opportunity to refresh our clubhouse and changerooms for the upcoming 2023 season with some very welcome donations in the form of materials. We are looking to our community for tradespeople and small businesses that would like to get involved and help deliver this exciting project. If you are interested in participating and have construction experience of any sort (DIY definitely counts!) please reach out to Ben at vp@stivesafl.com
