All St. Ives members: Rep & Development Carnival, Mother's Day round and more!

9 May 2019 by Lindy Jones

This week is Round 5 and we’re well into another great season of AFL at St. Ives.

First and foremost, thank you to all our parent volunteers and supporters who create a great experience every week for nearly 500 kids who play footy at St. Ives. We are always looking for more volunteers so please speak to your team manager or contact footy2@stivesafl.com if you’d like to contribute to our great Club.

A few important updates for you…

Due this Sunday: Rep & Development Carnival nominations – Queen’s Birthday weekend
As part of the development opportunities the AFL provides to our kids, we are pleased to invite you to nominate players in the U11 to U18 groups for the annual Carnival taking place on the Queen’s Birthday weekend.

Details are here: http://aflsj.com.au/2019-js-sports-development-and-representative-carnival-now-open/

Nominations are due by the end of this weekend (we have an extension beyond today’s deadline stated on the web page)

This year, there are a few changes to the competition:
- Venue has moved to Greenway Park, West Hoxton (other side of Liverpool)
- U9/U10 boys and U10 girls are pre-selected and your squad coaches/Susie Lawson for girls will have details of these nominations.
- For all other age groups, you will be able to nominate your child and they will participate in trials with teams chosen by coaches. Trial dates and venues will be decided by coaches once they are appointed.
- Competition includes an U16 Girls group for the first time.

If you wish to nominate your child, please complete the form on the linked web page by Sunday this week.

Pink Socks for Mother’s Day
A final reminder to make sure your kids are kitted out in their pink socks this weekend as we celebrate Mother’s Day and build on the amazing $20,000+ we have raised for the Royal North Shore Hospital’s Cancer Centre.

Our Auskick group will be involving Mum’s this weekend in fun and games, and what ever your age group, remember to post your colourful pics on the Gallery in Team App to celebrate with the Club.

Committee Update
Our Club Committee meets monthly and and our agenda covers important strategic issues such as a detailed review of our financials, discussion of grants and funding opportunities, continuing progress of our Club Strategy, the structure of our Board governance, roles and decision-making as well as the need to expand our overall volunteer base to better share the load.

We will involve you – our valued Club members – in the development of our Strategy and provide an update on other initiatives as we progress through the season.

Thanks once again for your support and Go Saints!
